Strontium Data Sheet

Nearly all celestite imports were from Mexico and were thought to be used as additives in drilling fluids for oil and natural gas exploration and production. For these applications, celestite is ground but undergoes no chemical processing. A small quantity of high-value celestite imports were reported; these were most likely mineral specimens.

Strontium Sulphate

The company provides an extensive range of strontium-containing substances, notably Iran strontium sulfate. With over four decades of experience in extraction and manufacturing, Iran Celestine Co. has an annual production capacity of over 100,000 tons of celestite, which comes in varying purity levels, including 80%, 85%, and over 90%.

Of the two, celestite occurs much more frequently in sedimentary deposits of sufficient size to make development of mining facilities attractive. Strontianite would be the more useful of the two common minerals because strontium is used most often in the carbonate form, but few deposits have been discovered that are suitable for development.
