The Minelab GP3000 came out after the GP Extreme and is the detector right before the GP3500. I found pounds of gold with the GP3000, so I know it's a great detector. A matter of fact, my partner still uses the GP3000 and found over a pound of gold at Moore Creek, Alaska this year in one weeks time!
Let me know if my expectations for the following two scenarios are realistic and/or what you would do differently: 1. I plan to use the 10x5 commander DD and the 11" commander DD on the GPX4K, for shallow to …

Arguably one of the best detectors that came out from Minelab, it was certainly very popular. As the larger nuggets dried up the emphasis turned find gold, no matter how small and this machine certainly did that, particularly with the 8 inch ellipical mono.

I currently have a GP3000, that I recently purchased, to go over patches that I have cleaned out with the GPX6k with the sole purpose of finding larger, deeper gold using a medium to large coil. Would the GPX4000 have any significant advantages over the GP3000 for larger/deeper gold?

The GPX series have more options, timings and such, so I'm sure you would see an advantage with one. That being said, some believe the GP 3500 gets the best overall depth and even is the best detector to mod.

Gear In Use: Blu3 Nomad, Equinox 800, XP Deus 2, Manticore, GP3000, XP MI4. Hi all. I have in the past used a SD2200d at the beach and now run a GP 3000. It gives great depth and very basic discrimination, and I am easily able to get coins at about 16-17" with a Detech 15x12 DD SEF coil, using discrim on half-way and salt mode.
